    Hi guys,
I have a problem with my laptop (Dell XPS 15 9530). I think it's a software problem. Anyway I was working on my laptop and suddenly after when I tried to enter the right menu to switch it off the entire gui started refreshing continuously. The computer was impossible to use, I couldn't even open the task manager, so I closed the laptop and let him go into sleep mode. Since then everytime I turn on the laptop after the dell logo I have a back screen with a cursor and nothing else. I can see that the touchscreen works because of the feedback on the screen (circles on the point of touch). An another thing is that if I press f8 it shows me the screen options if I needto use a second monitor and so on.
I really need it. I have to solve it. T.T
I tried to connect a second screen..... Same story
I tried to enter in safe mode, but with no success :( I tried f8 (the button only) and also holding shift and pressing rapidly multiple times f8.... This last one brings me to a diagnostic interface made by dell.

    Can anyone help me?

Is it possible your hard drive died?

Have you tried booting from a windows install CD (not suggesting you install, just to see if it can boot from the CD), or a linux live CD?

Well I don't have a dvd drive, but I just tried with the usb pen with win 8 installer to see if I can restore it. The usb pen works, but it failed to restore the point because of a file and the antivirus that "owns" it D:

The restore points don't wanna work for the reason above.... I should add that when I have the black screen I can press win+p and it shows a menu on the right. No other interaction is available :S

Then, this is a well known nvidia drivers issue, you have to unistall the previous drivers, then reinstall everything.

You need to boot in safe mode to do this.

It happened to me as well, people got crazy about it.

This page as a few solution to help you get over it:

Not sure if its always working.

    Try this:

    _ Shut down the pc.

_ Hold F8 or press continuosly

    _ Turn on the laptop

If this its not working, you can try to boot windows 8 from the cd (or usb drive), choose repair windows, and go to advance options to boot safe mode (something similar to this):

I've tried with f8 as usual, but it boots "normally". I tried hold shift + pressing f8 but it opens the dell diagnostic tests.
I have the usb pen with win 8 I will try to see if I can boot from there in safe mode if it's possible. :/
