I am not sure if this can be asked here.
I saw a lot of stuffs regarding this Windows 7 Service Pack 1 recently.
Some said it's RTM-ed, some said it's BETA only.
So, actually, which 1 was true? When might the Windows 7 SP1 will be released?

Also, I heard that Windows 7 SP1 have some improvements on gaming due to better DirectX patches. Is this true?

In addition, Windows 7 SP1 can be downloaded via Windows Update(can upgrade to Windows 7 SP1 directly under Original Windows 7?)?
    Would it be free?

By the way, anyone here tested the Windows 7 SP1 Beta?

My questions might be lame. LOL. But, I hope someone can clear me out from these sh!ts.

SP1 is still in beta. This SP is different from previous ones as it is much smaller. It's not really a drastic upgrade.

considering the number of updates that have come out AFTER the current SP1 beta was released, it's probably not worth your time.

Yup, as SP1 will be similar to SP3 for XP (a bunch of previously released updates all rolled into one).

I think service pack 1 may soon launch.
Remember a few months back there was a KB article that was to get the system ready for further updates.
Well I never installed i, and it vanished a day or so later for me.
Now it is back, along with a few other KB articles

Don't ask me how soon though, I may just be wishing

I just received a new update on several computers that has to do with the future delivery of SP1 so we are getting closer. I hope the DX upgrade/optimization for gaming is true but as others have said i'm not getting my hopes up.

    ^^^ This

There should be no need for a clean install unless you are having other issues.

Well pretty simple, they have a friend who's brother-in-law's sister's boyfriend's uncle's ex-wife's son is an "expert" and he says you need to reformat, dfrag and run cCleaner once a week or else your hard drive will die and a permanent virus will be stored in RAM, the BIOS will reset and your power supply will fail. He has been doing this every week without issues and has never had a virus even though he doesn't run any antivirus software because he is smart and knows exactly how to avoid bad web sites.
