    Never cleaned installed for over 3 years now on my own laptop... :rolleyes: and not a single hiccup.. :cool: always upgrading ;)

    Arghh, I just read that detailed Microsoft "blog", and it states: "Retpoline is not applicable to Skylake and later processors from Intel." So I think I'm right in thinking that this means that Skylake & later CPUs won't be getting back the performance they lost with the Spectre mitigations, just the older CPUs will - crazy. I'm a bit annoyed about that, I was expecting to regain my lost 2-5% performance!

    Although there is work going on at the moment to make Retpoline 'work' on Skylake & later CPUs: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=RETPOLINE_UNDERFLOW
    Whether or not this will be included in Microsoft's plan I do not know.

    I agree. This is also pretty annoying... Reserving and prioritizing drive space for more of their own bloat.
