A pity that System Image Backup is being removed. It's an excellent, useful, no-frills tool for quickly deploying multiple systems at a go, which is what I've done in the military.

Looks like I'll be using either Windows 10 LTSB 1607, or Windows 8.1 Enterprise for my next system, or should I say—VM—on my next system which will run Linux. I'm done with the Windows ecosystem. After I switch to Linux, then I can also switch my server shares to NFS instead of SMB. Multi-threaded networking FTW.

There's darktable, Rawtherapee, GIMP, ffmpeg, MPC-HC, 7-Zip, Inkscape, a whole host of LaTeX editors, Steam, OpenOffice and LibreOffice, what else? If one wants to put in the effort, he/she can definitely use Linux as a daily driver.

If I ever need Windows for gaming or productivity, there's KVM with IOMMU.

That's pretty odd, there's still plenty of people on Windows 8.1, and how much work is it to redeploy the Windows 7 driver on Windows 8.1?

It's sending a weird message, because you can still use the Windows 7 driver on Windows 8.1

It would take someone like an hour to reissue the same driver for Windows 8.1, and the only cost would be regression testing, but that should all be automated.

Maybe AMD needs rack space for other testing. I've seen that before, but come-on there's a utility closet, long hall with lots of wall space, a lab with shared space, heck if the cubicle space is vast enough it can hum in a far corner, find somewhere, roll the test rack there and continue the support :)

""We no longer support Windows 8.1 officially with consumer postings. If users want to use the Windows 7 driver on Windows 8.1 then that is their choice.""

If you disable the pagefile then it looks like memory compression feature disappears - for those that want to avoid that feature. I used to run without any pagefile for the last 7 yrs and never experienced an issue until last month when I ran Mass Effect Andromeda for the first time - it crashed at a certain point, that game needs a pagefile, at least on 16GB RAM systems.
