    How to enable or disable the Meltdown and Spectre Patches

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
    "FeatureSettingsOverride"=dword:00000000
    "FeatureSettingsOverrideMask"=dword:00000003

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
    "FeatureSettingsOverride"=dword:00000003
    "FeatureSettingsOverrideMask"=dword:00000003

    Copy the lines within the spoiler in a blank text document, then save it as Enable or Disable Spectre-Meltdown fix.reg then right click on it to merge it with your registry. You must reboot for the changes to take effect or you could simply copy/paste the commands in an elevated command prompt.

    What do the switches mean:

    3 = disable both
    2 = disable meltdown (VA Shadow)
    1 = disable spectre (BTI)
    0 = enable both

    FeatureSettingsOverrideMask is always 3

    Download InSpectre to check the status of the Intel Patch

    yeah I'd rather risk a 1% chance of being hacked then have Microsoft and Intel rob my taptop's performance :rolleyes:

    @Mr. Fox

    Hmm, I ran the batch file as admin but it didn't add the values in the registry. When I manually copy/pasted them in command prompt though it did

    This is the code I put in the .BAT file and I ran it as admin (my UAC is disabled though if that matters)

    Code:
    reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" /v "FeatureSettingsOverride" /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f

    reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" /v "FeatureSettingsOverrideMask" /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f
    What gives?

    Lemme try enabling UAC then see if the batch file works.

    Edit: Nope, enabling UAC and running the BAT file doesn't work

    Lemme try just saving the commands as a reg file now.

    Standby please

    Instructions have been changed to create a Reg File instead since the batch file wasn't working properly [IMG]

    Most definitely! I'm looking to increase my P650HS-G performance-- at least to the most it can be-- not help Intel de-mod it. And when a GPU compute run can take 2-4 days to finish, I'll take even an extra 5% performance boost anywhere I can get it.

    Thanks again for the recheck on the .reg

    Here is what the InSpectre app shows after I've disabled the Meltdown and Spectre Patches:
