Well, it was a pointless feature. Not everything needs to be tracked :p

Why bother supporting it when people use stuff like onedrive to maintain their file history?
Narrows down to what worth looking at.

That's because it was doing double duty - the phone home Telemetry Reporting already is keeping a "permanent" history of your file access, so MS are trimming the duplication in function.

Of course MS are eliminating the one that you could control...

And, if you "chose" to disable file history keeping, it would be a bit uncomfortable for MS to justify "phoning home" your file history behind your back when you've disabled it for your own use.

Now your personal file activity history reporting is uncontrollable, the way MS likes it to be o_O

"Microsoft might be working on a cloud-based File History replacement which we might see in the future."

I mean its a good feature, good for people with unlimited data w/ high speed. I upload pictures and important documents to Onedrive for safety.

Surely, you jest. Relying on Micro$haft for safety is like expecting wolves to guard the chickens.

Those files are related to MS windows and office Licenses and my documents [ I will be deleting old ones, though]. Unless they want W10 to be pirated.

Pirating W10 would be like the digital version of dumpster diving.

We should map our Recycle Bin and temp folders to OneDrive.

Even MSFT would think over hundred times before doing this. I mean, Windows in general maintains a lot of temp files even after fresh install. Driver and app install will make it worse. There would be increased costs to maintain their Cloud servers and they will tell users to migrate to Ubuntu. :)
