What with this mess? Microsoft blocked Windows 10 April Update install on Alienware laptops Is it fixed?

Unfortunately, if you own an Alienware laptop, you still won’t be able to install the Windows 10 April Update. More specifically, irrespective of what you do, you’ll still get the following error message:

‘Some apps need to be uninstalled. These programs need to be uninstalled because they aren’t compatible with the upgrade: Hybrid laptops with discrete GPU connected to the display.’

Microsoft just acknowledged that it blocked the update on a series of Alienware laptops due to incompatibility issues. The following Alienware laptop models are concerned:

    • Alienware 13 R3
    • Alienware 15 R3
    • Alienware 15 R4
    • Alienware 17 R4
    • Alienware 17 R5

Or will the Toshiba XG4, XG5 ssd models Dell/Dellienware prefer to use screw up even more for the AW owners? I'm sure Dell is familiar with this NEW SSD flaws with Win 10 April Joke Update. Is not boiling temp enough? Must it fry before they are happy with it?

And why edit aka modified the article? Have they cooparate with Micro$haft regarding full compability with what they use of (ALL) hardware? Nope!!

Yet another bunch of Microsoft Surfaces don’t work with Win10 version 1803
If you shelled out $3,000 to $4,500 for a Surface Studio, you may be a bit disconcerted to discover that many don’t work with the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, version 1803. Mice and keyboards keep disconnecting.

"I have to ask: Is anybody at Microsoft testing this stuff?"

The TimeLine freezing is and explorer crashing is because of the disabled 'Connected Devices Platform User ServiceXXXX'. This needs to be reenabled in Services.msc. Sometimes, it comes up as CDP_XXXX On a reboot without properly shutting down, this service will, on my laptop, use 30% of CPU (Exactly like a program has frozen or not is not responding) for a few minutes before returning to normal.

Not only that, but Connected Devices Platform User service also regularly jumps up to 5-10% CPU usage when I use timeline.

From now on, it seems many services will be essential to the functionality of the OS. Connected Device service seems to manage all things related to syncing things across devices.

Desktop Window Manager used to be a service you could disable, but in Windows 10 it becomes a service that literally renders desktop animations. Microsoft separating services in 1709 may be a sign it is finally transitioning to having one use for each service.

Freezing on Optimus systems is a fault of both Microsoft and Nvidia.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-problem/93e7004a-62b1-4211-8e37-4c136608865e

Seems like Microsoft has fixed what it can fix in RS5 Insider Update, but we are waiting for Nvidia to respond.

It is caused by Microsoft doing something to the Display Cache (Complex OS stuff) which requests the Nvidia GPU to wake up. Nvidia's Driver is slow and takes almost 0.5 seconds to wake the GPU up.

Microsoft has really done something performance wise with this OS. 1803 is an example of a half-assed, half finished OS that's trying to increase its performance. I'm pretty confident RS5 will probably be the best update. Microsoft is getting better though, and you can't deny that

I wrote that somewhere that task view needs connected device sevices.
As for optimus issue its worse now. EVen Intel driver has shader cache which is impossible to remove or turn off. Maybe that's what MSFT calls Display cache.
