Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Hits RTM Ahead Of October 17th Launch
Microsoft has completed work on its Fall Creators Update for Windows 10. As of build 16299.15, the Fall Creators Update reached RTM (release to manufacturing) status, which is the final code that gets doled out to OEM system builders so they can pre-load PCs with the final version for day-of-release availability. Everyone else will be able to get their hands on the newest update starting October 17.

Windows Insiders can get the jump on everyone else by downloading and installing the latest build. It includes cumulative security and feature updates and will serve as the baseline OS install until the next big update arrive. Barring any changes in strategy, Microsoft has committed to releasing two major upgrades to Windows 10 every year—the Fall Creators Update is the second one for 2017.

One of things Microsoft is pushing with the Fall Creators Update is mixed reality experiences. It has partnered with several third-party hardware makers to ready lower-cost mixed reality headsets based on its blueprint. Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung are all on board with mixed reality headsets that are available to pre-order from the Microsoft Store. As to how prominently gaming plays into all of this remains to be seen.

The Fall Creators Update is also the first to incorporate elements of Microsoft's Fluent Designlanguage. This includes subtle (and some not-so-subtle) performance and user interface (UI) enhancements, such as smoother transitions, easier resizing, and so forth. It is a step towards modernizing the look and feel of Windows 10, without completely revamping the OS.

Some other changes include streamlining system settings, better transparency in regards to privacy controls, security improvements, better Cortana integration, smarter storage (OneDrive Files on Demand is being integrated into Windows 10), and of course improved security, to name a few of the things headed our way.

I take it "better Cortana integration, smarter storage…" really means harder to get rid of

Would you please share you feedback about this build? did you install 16296 or 16278?

There are a lot of new features and improvements to look forward to in the forthcoming Fall Creators Update for Windows 10, including OneDrive Files On-Demand, My People, Story Remix, Power Throttling, new UI for both the Start and Action Center, a lot of Edge and Cortana improvements, a currency converter in Calculator, new emoji, and more.

If you’re thinking of joining the Windows 10 Insider program, or you just want to do a clean install with an up to date version of the Fall Creators Update, the good news is Microsoft has released a new ISO image.

The image, for Build 16296/16278, is available for all Windows Insiders, and you can download it now.

In order to download the ISO, you'll firstly need to join the Windows Insider Preview program (if you haven't already), which you can do here.

Once signed up and logged in, go to this page to grab the download. Select the edition you require from the drop-down box, and click Confirm. Select the product language, and click Confirm for that. You can then choose a 32 or 64-bit download.

did you read the OP bro, it's build 16299 which is the final RTM Build for Redstone 3. Check this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/windows-10-bloatware-free-edition.804247/

Improvements I felt as a user? Nada!

Annoyances: default programs is gone from control panel, now it takes you to the PC Settings Default Programs which is very limited as to how you can assign a program all defaults

3D Objects folder now appears in your libraries even if you have 0 apps from the Store that deal with 3D Objects, but I posted the fix for that in the Windows 10 Tweaks thread

Windows Firewall has been renamed to Windows Defender Firewall

The Windows Driver Foundation has been removed. No big deal as Windows always used to set it back to manual rather than automatic startup mode for security reasons so that's one less thing to worry about
