the KB4598291 update has stopped those ESENT ID 642 errors from showing up in the Application Event log in the Event Viewer app (at least MS did something right with this new update) :)

that bug has been occurring since build 19041.1 and it took MS about a whole year to fix it

Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 LTSC and Windows 7 Ultimate in a multi-boot system.

If I understood how it happened, it probably never would have. There is apparently some kind of back door someplace, or maybe Windows 10 glitched and temporarily ignored my settings intended to block it. Fortunately, nothing got screwed up in the process.

Edit: I never get overly concerned. I keep Macrium Reflect images and if ever something doesn't go down my way, I veto Micro$lop and undo their messes with my Macrium sledge hammer in a matter of minutes.

Bro @Mr. Fox isn't it pretty?

    Windows 10 KB4598291 fixes another bug, but it’s also causing other issues windowslatest.com - February 8, 2021

Earlier this month, Windows 10 received a KB4598291 cumulative update which fixes a host of bugs, including some of the features broken by the October 2020 Update, such as the Alt-Tab apps switcher and Windows Credentials manager....

In addition to aforementioned bug fixes, this optional cumulative update also includes a fix for an issue which causes ESENT 642 errors. For those uninitiated, ESENT is a DLL in Windows and it is a data storage tech that powers different parts of the operating system.

User reports had suggested that mysterious error was causing performance and crashes for some installations of Windows 10. The problem was first reported when the May 2020 Update was launched, and Insiders had flagged it almost a year ago.

Windows 10 KB4598291 broke Discord screen share with audio windowsreport.com

Last week, Microsoft rolled out KB4598291, an optional cumulative system update that contained lots of fixes for browser-use and games.

However, it seems that while the update did correct frequent crashes, it also brought along other issues, which users have rapidly shared on dedicated forums.

Mine say 1809:vbbiggrin: And I will stay there:hi: A small typo from Deskmodder is a lot more appealing than what you get in that MS package:vbthumbsup:

    Edit.
    The update increases the version number to Windows 10 21H1 19043.804, Windows 10 20H2 19042.804 and Windows 10 2004 19041.804.

As a note: If you are traveling with Windows 10 21H1, you will have to enter the * .mum files again via the command prompt so that the new version number is displayed. We have already updated the post .
