Per Microsoft support, they say the same thing. They even call registry defrag programs “snake oil”. Leave the registry alone, the registry after Windows 95 is designed in such a way that it ignores wasted entries. You can create more problems by trying to defrag the registry and really won’t gain anything.

Ok, next time I'll post some detailed guide to removal of ghost keys from regedit.exe
Use Linux or WinPE for best results otherwise Windows 10 starts to Nag saying its a System File and other BS.
If you see NTUsr.xx please note its NTUser.xx because I have an habit to hit Tab for auto completion on linux.

yeah ill just leave it as it is. thanks guys
idk but pretty sure in win7 and xp when ever i did clean and defrag registry with program say boot and shut down were faster. if a pc took like 10 seconds to shut down after defrag it would take 3 seconds. been doing it for years.
i just switched on windows 10 like less than a month.
but il just leave as it is. clean installed win10 5 times when 1903 so am a bit stressed to mess with it.

For all the attempts from Microsoft to screw up Windows 10, it's a pretty advanced operating system. And since it's been turned into a service, Windows 10 is designed to handle things automatically, including updates and AV scans. When someone tries to override things such as the registry it can cause more problems than it's worth. I'm not saying you CAN'T mess with the Registry is that things can go horribly wrong if you change or delete the wrong DWORD or entry.

That's true because when it re-create the files and older regback files are deleted and you end up with ~150-200MB of newer optimised reg entries in the db that speeds up startup and shutdown. After few months or years the size gets larger and larger crossing 300MB which causes sluggish OS performance. I think W10 can now handle almost huge reg db unlike older versions.
