    2 words: Windows Vista

Upgrade to Windows 7. Your blood pressure will thank you for it.

    Doesn't sound like it's a vista issue.

Have you tried using a different browser, doesn't matter if it's Firefos, IE or Opera, just try another browser and see what happens. Let us know whether the freeze is chrome specific or occurring on other browsers. From there we'll be able to give you better advice.

Not only does Radji have a good point, but yahoo is really not doing a very good job of supporting their email program and whatever else.

If everything else is fine then you'll have to blame yahoo.

I just went through this with my neighbor - yahoo mail is horrid.

My whole point is it might be a flash issue. One thing I do remember is having one heck of a time getting flash player to install correctly on Vista.

My whole point is that the number of advertisements and broken functionality that yahoo is going through - if no other site is giving you trouble then yahoo is guilty as charged.

If you run your computer as a standard user, which you should anyway, reboot into an administrator account to do updates.

I would do that if greedy Bill Gates an Microsoft would let us Upgrade and not charge any money,i have a choice for free and the name is Ubuntu,i'm only hanging on to Win cause i have a Sony SyberCam only works with Win,and have 4 more nachines with Linux installed.

    Thanks the PC is updated.

i just uninstalled acrobate flashes and now it only freezes with yahoo, Facebook is ok now,
well it did not do it in IE,but installed Firefox it's when it started to freeze, then i uninstalled firefox and installed Google Chrome and still does it.
you may say go back to IE,but IE was not bocking addons dispite i had Addon bocker installed.
with either firefox or Chrome i have no issues blocking those damm Addons.

I don't have much to add, but in IE I've always set my privacy security setting to high and popup blocker to high. Those are the only blockers I use.

I assume you have IE 9 and the latest flash. You might want to run CCleaner - Standard

Be careful before running, and look for anything that could be still in the registry after uninstalling the other browsers and adobe flash.

Sometimes you just have to really clean and poke around to find a culprit.

Really, Yahoo bombards with forceful advertisements.

Well, bashing Vista won't help the OP, obviously, no matter how popular it is doing so. Maybe it's time for a clean installation of Vista SP2? It works pretty well.

    Use Adguard in Chrome.
