Why there are no 15'' laptops with 1080gtx?

Too much heat generation, just like the 980 desktop mobile GPU before the 1080, a 15" laptop can't expel the heat quick enough.

Now that Pascal is a throttle master and with all that Junkware Batteryboost, GPU Boost 3.0 throttle 3.0 I can't even expect a 1060/ 970M class chip non MXM cards (Blade and Aorus, etc..) can hold stock clocks, coming to the 1070 and 1080 being 980M and 980N class GPUs, 1070 mobile being a true monster chip forget it inside "light and thin" machines hold clocks and perform upto mark, they need the Prema's magic else they are stuck in oblivion..:p;)

Hello people...after reading numerous posts, i just got a question, i have a Clevo P771DM-G, could it be possible to have the 1080M 3.0 compatible card?

I read this article saying this:
"Compared with other GTX 980M devices, the XMG U706 not only strikes with its generous memory configuration but also with the support for G-Sync and the GPU design in MXM 3.0 format. The graphics card could thus theoretically be upgraded at a later date - providing that Nvidia's next Pascal generation also uses the same plug-in card standard."

could it be possible.......i have the GTX980M....no VR.............should i sell this laptop, and buy the P775DM2-G that brings the 1080M already?

I think it does n´t make sense if it´s not compatible, the barbone is the same.....

it wont fit, the physical dimensions of the 1080 are just too big for your machine...

1080 also required extra power supply and cord, your laptop doesn't have it.

    So sadly.

all clevo cards have the same physical dimensions and use an external power connector. at this point, the only option would be an msi 1060 mxm which comes in standard form factor and doesnt require an external power connector :)
