I have enabled the "Allow this device to wake the computer" option in the power management properties of my Intel Wireless-AC 9560 WiFi adapter, and I have also enabled the "Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer" option.

The good news is that my computer wakes up when I use a WakeOnLAN app to wake it up over WiFi.

The bad news is that my computer also refuses to go to sleep. Windows event log shows that the computer attempts to go to sleep after the defined period of inactivity, and then immediately comes out of sleep a few seconds later. Running "powercfg /lastwake" confirms that the WiFi adapter is responsible for waking it up from its brief sleep.

Any ideas for why the WiFi adapter would be waking up the system even though it's configured to only respond to magic WOL packets?

Did you uninstall all previous Intel wifi driver/software and reinstalled the latest version? A computer not going to sleep is a sign of corrupted sys files.

I've never done a full uninstall, but I've always installed Intel WiFi driver updates as soon as they're released. I'm currently on 21.80.2.1, which I believe is the latest version.

Unless that update is on a clean image one has no way to verify if there was a issue with install or something was corrupted. So if one doesn't download the newest version to the wifi card and then uninstall and reinstall trying to diagnosis the problem won't help here.
