Why would I need a firewall other than Windows Firewall?

    I’m no expert, but I think Windows firewall is good enough, especially if you are behind a router. A 3rd party firewall will give you more control and detailed reports on your network activities.

    Agreed. A friend here on the forum...convinced me to use Windows firewall.;) :cool:

    Since the switch....I have run into no prob's at all. :D

    right just wanted to confirm that. I hate the way the other software firewalls ask u about every freakin' connection to allow or not it becomes too much

    Oohh, I understand..I had Trend*cough*M...and learned to despise it...fairly quickly on my 1530...:eek: :(

    If you need more control over Windows Firewall, use the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security option.

    Works great for me and does everything I want.

    Anybody curious, you can find it under Administrative Tools. Allows you to control outbound connections.

    An enhancement to Windows Firewall that easily allows you to allow or deny outgoing/incoming internet requests by program is Vista Firewall Control (free). I highly recommend it.
