    It is an addiction, but hey I've controlled myself for 6 months now... Not bought anything big for PC/laptop since September last year :)

    After standard MXM went away I upgraded my P170-SMA w/ 880M to a 980M because I had it available.

    Then I built a desktop with ebay parts for about $400 (E5-1650) and slapped in a 1070 (not so super cheap, but hey...) LOVE the desktop. Use the laptop when I travel. :D

    My 1st laptop was a sager 2090 8-9 years ago now. After that I use upgraded with used laptops that where 1 year old or so. I usually bought some used laptop every 2 years or so. 2 month ago I bought my 1st new laptop in 9 years, the Eurocom F5. This laptop will last me at least a good 3 years or longer if the gpu can be upgraded more.

    Haha speak for yourselves, I'm still rocking my y410p (which is pretty much the same as my y400). I'll upgrade to some awesome desktop when games I want to play just don't run on this laptop anymore, but so far things are looking good. Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Overwatch, The Witcher, Path of Exile, Dark Souls, GTA, etc they all work with medium/high settings and above at 900p. For the portability and low initial cost, I'd say I'm getting more than my money's worth out of this little laptop.

    I want to upgrade because I want to run Ultra Modded Skyrim with a stable 60 FPS so right now I'm saving up money to get a GTX 1080 (laptop).

    We're always upgrading, because game development is always upgrading. Technology is far from stagnation, so it is easy to be left behind, if your goal is to play games at maximum visual fidelity.

    My path in laptop GPUs has been 8600M GT DDR2 -> 9800M GT -> GTX 260M -> HD 6970M -> GTX 780M -> GTX 980M -> GTX 1070

    I think I've done pretty well, only upgrading when there would be a significant performance increase. The leap from 9800M to 260M wasn't much, but the motherboard holding the latter was in the first ever quad core compatible laptop.

    Truth be told, the majority of these changes came due to a hardware failure, and it made more sense to just buy a whole new laptop, versus repairing the old one.

    I'm probably going to sit on this GTX 1070 for a long time. This card has so many years of 1080p gaming left in it, I'll be content for a long time. The only reason I upgraded from the GT72 w/ 980M was because of MSI's trade in program giving me a GT73VR for $900.

    I am not upgrading.

    Still have with me my two laptops in signature from 2011. Still working beautifully with latest games.

    I aim for 30fps and the rest is history.
    Good luck
