On at least the Note 4, you dont simply flash rom and done, you also need to flash a compatible modem alongside it, otherwise you dont get any communication out and/or drop calls etc

Yeah, that (and questionable design choices) keeps me from even considering one.
There are ROMs for N7000, but I personally didn't try any. Bottom line, you definitely can install one, but will have to research which one is better yourself.

@kojack then you're SOL. Your hardware is different from popular Galaxy Note 1 models and there is no LineageOS for your device.

    Hi,

There are also more important and convincing reasons why you should never buy a Xiaomi product or from similar companies, especially from China (maybe with the exclusion of Huawei, which can no longer be unlocked). Those reasons are absolutely horrible working situations, payment, rights, etc. Xiaomi actually is producing some of their stuff in North Korea (nothing too advanced ofc), the workers are handled like slaves. Going on the company doesn't care about our environment at all, they do absolutely nothing to save it, they even get rid of highly toxic stuff via several smaller sister companies they sell it to, this way they can even earn money with their waste. Greenpeace, who discovered all this, couldn't find out what is going to happen with the waste afterwards, they believe it is dumped into rivers, landscape, sea, sold to africa or somewhere else, ... Then there is the long shipping when you live outside of mainland china, which also isn't good for the environment and the like. Furthermore is the their Android one of the hungriest for personal data, doesn't get secruity updates, is in gerneral really unsave. Their products also have a really short lifespan (2y max), they saved money on the wrong ends an example is the cooling method of their notebooks, ...

Simply said, consider to always buy from a company which reveals all this and is producing their products suited in quality for the middle european market (highest quality produced in masses).

    Greetings,
    Logan

By that standard, no one should buy clothes either.
