    I have a dell e1505 with:
    a T7400 @2.16
    2.0 G DDR2 Ram
    80G 7200 RPM HDD
    1280 x 800 Glossy Screen with ATI Radeon X1400

Sometimes (not all the time) I will get these faint or distorted horizontal lines that move vertically across the screen. (my computer is plugged into the power source as well).

Does this mean my screen is going bad? Does anyone know what is causing this?

    Cheers
    :)

ive seen that, sometimes the LCD inverter might be bad or is not properly connected.

might want to hook it up to an external monitor to test whether it's the screen or the gpu

I agree, this is how you test if it really is the LCD inverter or not.

    thanks guys :)

So I'm gonna try to figure out a way to test it like you said. If it don't get the same vertically moving blurred horizontal lines, that means it is the LCD inverter? If I do, that means the GPU is bad?

Is the LCD inverter something I could replace myself as easily as I can plug in extra RAM, or will be it be something I need to take into the repair shop?

Thanks again guys. Your time is much appreciated.
    :)

    Okay,

Dell decided to send me a new LCD screen in the mail. So the problem is, how the heck do I replace and entire LCD panel? Any guides or tips?

    Thanks.
    :)
