Why did Nvidia stop cramming ridiculous amounts of RAM into laptop GPUs?

    Nvidia was doing that because the mobile cards were lacking in other areas, purely for appeal to the ignorant. There's no reason to do so when you're selling 1:1 desktop chips.

    VRAM is also ridiculously expensive right now, so why waste money?

    It a Titan Xp has 12GB VRAM how do u run GTA V Max settings in 8K Resolution off 12GB VRAM... I'm pretty sure it doesn't stack but something must going on there

    In real, a gtx 1080 dosent need 8gb vram, its usefull only when sli kicks in! With dual gtx 1080, the processing powrr becomes heavyenought to require 8gb vram! Those old cards werent powerfull enough to use that ram!

    Having 8GB Vram in my 980m has been a good thing. I've used almost 7GB in some games and so
    it isn't a ridiculous amount for this console generations ports.
