why are we loosing pixels? What options do i currently have??

I have a Vostro 1700 at the moment which is spec wise perfect

17" 1920x1200 screen and 2 hdd bays..

those 3 specs are the only once that i really look at.

i want 17" and i want 1920x1200 because of my work (i need loads of real estate)

i also want 2 hdd bays for 1 SSD and 1 HDD a perfect combination.

But nowadays its almost impossible to get that specific combination..

Dell M6500 is one and i guess maybe HP EliteBook 8740w? (but can there by 2 hdd's in that one?) or de Lenovo W700ds or W701ds (don't know if that one is in Europa/NL)

And i am not alone... All my co workers and many friends want the exact same specs,

I am not interested in GPU.. If Sandy bridge is coming (i will wait for that) then i dont even want a dedicated GPU, onboard is fine by me, i almost dont play any games (especially not the 3D shooters)
