I have a new ThinkPad R61 and I'm nearing the end of my 30-day trial of BitDefender Internet Security 2008. A 12-month subscription is $39.95 or just the BitDefender Anti-Virus is $24.95. I couldn't care less about most of the additional features of Internet Security with exception to the Firewall Protection. I could save a few bucks with Anti-Virus and use Windows Firewall or get the Internet Security....any suggestions?

I've tried most of the other guys before- Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro and my desktop (Vista) is on a 90-day Kapersky trial at the moment.

I'm running XP Pro on my ThinkPad. Protection is obviously the top priority, but I don't want a resource hog (Norton immediately comes to mind) that will get in my way.

    Thoughts?

There are a bazillion threads like this, and you're probably going to receive at least a bazillion different answers. This thread may help you.

Personally, I'd go with Kaspersky or Nod, Comodo, ThreatFire, a-squared and AVG antispyware.

I'm only using Kaspersky Internet Security + Windows Defender and I say I I'm quite satisfied. :)

I just run ZoneAlarm AntiVirus. No Windows Firewall. No Windows Defender.

I suggest you get NOD32 with Comodo Firewall Pro for a light and top of the line safety config.
