Looking at possibly buying the 17.3 Defiance V RTX from Pcspecialist. Would grab it with the 2080 RTX and upgrade to 2x8GB RAM + a couple more SSD's. The end price for me is just over £2000.

The second laptop is the MSI GS75 which is £2300 and only has the RTX 2070.

I'm slightly more leaning towards the first due to the RTX 2080. But am a bit confused as to why it is cheaper yet has a better graphics card. Is MSI a lot better?

    Thanks!

You may want to consider the FAQ stuck at the top of this forum and post back. That would help us flesh things out.

Pc specialist does seem to have some of the worlds cheapest prices on clevos I'm not sure why

I feel the two are extremely similar.
I got the 17 inch version of the 16 inch one you are looking at. It js. Little heavier than the gs75

    Even though overall I do think the gs75 has a few features I like...they arent important as a 2080 over a 2070

So no I'd go for the clevo p960 in this case. Mine is a p970ef. Its great
    It is extremely similar

I bought my own ssds at 2 x 2 tb each and I got out the door at around 2k so in reality its cheaper than the initial price really.

Who wants a 512 GB ssd its worthless 2 tbssds are now in the 200 300 range

Is it a 2080 max q or full one? I think overall it’s a better deal with the pcspecialist. Less for more is always good right?
I think MSI is just a brand using its name to justify the price.
Whereas the pc specialist is just a rebranded machine. Usually clevo.
Think about it though. Your getting the top end name gpu and change to get your ssd inside the £300 you saved.
You have to find something great about the msi that would allow to accept a downgrade for £300 more
Pc specialist give you 3 years warranty too. More than msi.

With msi exactly you need to pay marketing of a brand name
Some parts they make some are part of the same Chinese manufacturing channel
    And Then a mark up

Also it has to be mass produced to have enough. Clevo is made in small batches as demand goes each model
But let's just say these two are exactly the same thing essentially

In all honesty clevo and msi are closely related allies sharing ebgineering and market data and their laptops are almost exact copies at this point. What's big about this one is I think the shell of each is actually made in the same place in mainland China and then rhe motherboard js made in Taiwan. Meaning They built these models together as allies

When you see them with their back off the chips are even in the same place on the motherboard and the heatsink is similar

And it's starting to get even more conspiracy in that they use the same colors to paint the heatsink and use the same fans. Msi mounts the fans mid motherboard so it cools both sides clevo on top. Clevo uses a larger heat sink with more pipes but at this point imo clevo makes both heat sinks in the same place on thr same day and mails them to Msi
