"Never shop by brand, always review the model." - wise words from the internet

Give us a budget and what you want to use the laptop for - HP machines may not be the best option.

Maybe the OP was asking about HP Voodoo aka OMEN PCs?

I mean, it doesn't matter without him stating a budget and use case. I would never recommend the Omen for someone who only wants to watch movies and work on it - I'd recommend an EliteBook or ThinkPad. Similarly, if a person wants an entry-level gaming solution, I'd probably steer them towards the Dell 7567 or Omen 15 (580 model) if that fits in the budget.

Oh, yeah, we did. Joke's on us then ^_^

Well, a high-end EliteBook is pretty much guaranteed quality so I'd pick the one that best fits one's needs in terms of specifications and battery life/screen quality (use NoteBookCheck for data on those)

Well, out of those options 8460 is 2nd gen iCore, 8470 is 3rd gen, while 1030 is passively cooled 6th gen and over twice as powerful (in PCmark7 at least). There is no competition which one to get in my opinion. Oh yea 1030 comes with an IPS too, something that was not available in the older models.

Seriously, those models do not really compete with each others today.
If I had to choose one badass HP, I'd probably pick that 17" Zbook loaded with everything in the catalogue.
