Like I don't know the answer, but they may be surprises...what's everyone using for OS? I'm not a fan of Windows, but I can find everything I need (software wise) and don't have to worry about drivers. I've been slowly getting into Linux, but hardware support is an issue. Anyway:

Sony XG500 - Windows XP Pro
Sony NV190 - Windows XP Pro (40gb partition) / Mandrake Linux 9.1 (20 gb partition)
    Sony v505 - Windows XP
Toshiba Libretto L5 - Currently Windows XP Pro - In process of doing network install of Debian (Linux).
Ascentia M - Windows 95 - Due to have Debian installed once I fix PC-Card bay
Thinkpad 760 XL - Windows NT - Due to have Windows 98 installed so I can give it to my brother.

My biggest project is putting Debian on the Libretto. With no CD drive, I'm going to have to do a network install. It'll be a learning experience...

Window blinds is nice, but I don't like paying for anything like that. I just leave the gui part of windows alone, or actually turned down. Since it just requires more resources with no benefit to me. I just use a few free tools to tweak the operating system some and have about 500+ wallpapers for variety.
