I hate to ask such a seemingly easy question, and I'm not asking for top secret classified info, either. Doing a google search comes up with all kinds of "idiots flying drones (quadcopters! NOT DRONES!)" or "military can now shoot down hobby drones" etc.

I see tv commercials and video footage of military personnel flying drones (often) via toughbooks, and I was curious what kind of setup they are using.

    Thanks!

I hope everyone has been well!

We use to have a picture on here on another thread that showed a CF-19 in use by two military personal for drone use. This was just for a smaller drone used for recon/spying.

    http://www.panasoniclaptops.com/2012/01/panasonic-toughbook-cf-19-used-to-fly.html

There is one link but not the one I was looking for. The picture I am thinking of has two service men in it, video goggles (big big green ones and a CF-19 (either a Mk1 or Mk2)

(besides "drone" check out "UAV" as your search string)

There little survalance done is the "raven"

And remember they just don't use them for flying only.

There isn't just one set up.

On that link to the UAVFactory is a killer set up in a wide pelican style case. It uses either a CF-29/30/31. They use to have a lot of stuff with toughbooks. I just haven't checked them out in a while.

WHERE THE F**K DO I GET THAT DOCK!?!? LOL

Ador, UAV and UAS comes up with just as much clutter because of the FAA trying to regulate model aircraft. I like flying (crashing) rc heli's and dollar tree foam board planes, so I've had a little exposure to hobby grade but not military use FPV and RC control equipment.

I know a couple of the panny people are on RCgroups. Anyone else here, as well?

Do we know what kind of hardware is used for video transmission/decoding? Even just a mfr or hardware name?

Back in high school I got int RC had boats, cars and plane. Don't have the plane any more but I do have a small chopper. Never did upgrade to the "drone" quad style chopper. Too much other stuff going on.

Our local Dragon that has been gone a while I keep in touch with him from time to time on phone and he has jumped fully into the Drone scene.

Are you trying to duplicate a military look setup?

I have gotten a lot better at searches over the years trying different terms and using the google advanced search codes. But not quite as good as our Search Ninja. You do know you can make it where it won't show documents that has certain words in it?
