Helping a cousin find his first gaming laptop...

    What is your budget?
    $800 (Fixed)

What size notebook would you prefer?
    Any screen size

Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
Preferably MSI, Clevo or ASUS but any other brands will do as long as it fits the budget

Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
    Never, preferably brand new unit

What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
90% on gaming and 10% for other tasks

Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
    Both

Will you be playing games on your notebook? (If so, please state which games or types of games?)
Dota 2, PUBG, Fornite, Overwatch and a few AAA titles

How many hours of battery life do you need?
Doesn't matter, I know most gaming laptops only last an hour or less

There are a lot of gaming laptops around that price range but most of them uses the GTX 1650 which is 25-30% faster than the 1050Ti and it'll handle those games easily on 1080p.

    Popular budget gaming laptops
    Acer Nitro 5/7 Series
    Dell G3
    HP Pavilion Gaming Laptops
    ASUS ROG Strix GL531
    Lenovo Y540

Heres one with the GTX 1060 which is better than the 1650.

You can find other older laptops that has the GTX 1060 around that price range if you search around

You can opt for the Dell Inspiron 7577, Acer Nitro 5, Asus TUF FX504 / FX505. All of these come with either the GTX 1060 or GTX 1650. Processor wise you will get the i5-8300H / 9300H or 7300HQ.

Apart from that there are no good laptops around the $800 mark. Sometimes you can get the Dell G5 / G3 or the Lenovo Y540 at that price point if they are on sale.

I know you said you're not interested in used units, but I have a Lenovo Y530 in excellent condition with 16 GB of RAM and and SSD for sale. Link is in my signature. HMU via private message if you'd like to know more.
