    Hello,

Roughly what should I ask for my Dell XPS 1330 laptop?

It's precisely 2 years old, cosmetically it's flawless with no scratches or marks. Here are the specs:

    2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9500 (800MHz FSB, 6M L2 Cache)
    4GB - 667Mhz DDR2
    128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
    320GB HD - 7200 rpm
    8x DVD+/-RW Burner
    Wireless N - Intel 4965AGN
    6-cell Lith Ion battery - 56 WHr
    Bluetooth
    Fingerprint Reader
    13.3" LED LCD
Win Vista Premium - 32 bit

Looking to sell to a private party - what should I ask? How much is it worth?

    Thanks!

    You're kidding, right?

Based on your description, the hardware seems to be pretty decent, especially if it really doesn't have any noticeable scratch marks, etc.

I would suggest going on Dell's site and look at its refurbished section to find a model of similar specs as your xps. This way, at least you'll get some idea of price range.

I'm afraid that there have been a lot of issues with videocard in that computer - a flaw in the nvidia's die plus the dreadful dell thermal pad have given a lot of people a lot of trouble with that computer - and I speak as someone who owns exactly that model. Sadly, I don't think anyone who knows about this issue would touch that computer. This may have an affect on the price you can get, however good the components look.

Dell is way overpriced on their outlet laptops. Besides, this is a private party sale, not a refurbished laptop from the manufacturer. You could probably get around $500 for it if you're lucky, but realistically you're looking at around $400.

Personally, I've had better luck striping old laptops and selling them on e-bay as parts. Alot of people trying to save money want to buy used parts to upgrade or fix their old laptops instead of buying new ones. I'm sure there's plenty of X1330 owners looking to replace their motherboards due to GPU failure out of warranty.

i still have 1 year left on the warranty of this laptop and it is transferable. would this be a selling point to a potential buyer? if so, what factor does it play in the price i should ask??

I'd say $480. A lot of low end laptops today with specs that match it and are more efficient go for $500-$600.

$400-$475 depends how quick you want to sell it and if any repairs or work has been done due to faulty video cards and all.
