    Mainstream (15 - 16-inch screen)

    No

Web Surfing, Movie Streaming and Viewing, Graphic Intense 3D Gaming

How long do you want this laptop to last?
    2 years

I will probably equip this laptop with a 1 TB SSD

Are you interested in SSD for storage?
    Yes

Do you want a built-in optical drive, what type?
a optical drive is not necessary but I wouldn't reject a laptop that had one.

Storage and RAM yes, CPU and GPU no.

    Weight?
    Under 6 lbs

I've looked at the Gigabyte's and I'm just not sure about their build quality from what I've read. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I do like the Clevo's models you have mentioned and I have thought long and hard about the Mythlogic model you linked to. The problem has been finding some one selling the Clevo with 6GB or 8GB of video RAM and the 3K or 4K screen.

I think XoticPC sells the larger sized 15" Clevo P150SM-A with 980m 8GB.

So far very few people have had a chance to use the P35x yet. This guy in Korea got one early, reports pretty impressive temps while gaming: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KkB93EXSW4

Yeah, but the Clevo P150SM-A breaks both my size and weight desires and Xotic PC doesn't offer it with a 3K or 4K screen.

This has been my issue, the one I was hoping to find the magic answer to with this thread. I either find the laptop size and screen I want and not the GPU or I find the GPU I want without the screen and size.

For slim 15" with 980m, I think there are only two options at this point, Clevo P650SG and Gigabyte P35x.

Yeah its those or the MSI GS60 with 970m (its rather over priced though, and you said you want to avoid MSI)

If you go with the Clevo p650sg(980m) it is actually 3mm thicker than the p650se(970m), and the 3k display is good. There are 2 possible 4k displays though a good Sharp display (LQ156D1JX01B), and a bad Samsung display (LTN156FL02-L01), so make certain the seller uses the right one.

The gigabyte is thinner, but probably a little lower build quality. The company says they have fixed some of the quality issues (like keyboard and cooling), but we have yet to get reviews. Some people on the forums are likely to begetting this within the next couple days, so might be worth waiting to hear their feedback.

Thank you for the information on the 4K panels, that's very helpful.

Do either of you have personal experience with either Gigabyte or MSI? What's your opinion on them as compared to, say, Asus?

Never owned any of these brands before. Almost bought the GS70 last year but decided against it due to that crazy coat of arms logo on the lid.

Upcoming Asus GX500 with 970m or 980m might be interesting but I don't think it will be released for at least a few months. Otherwise most Asus models seem a bit too bulky for my needs.

Probably going to upgrade to the P35x within the next month.

I had been eye balling the GX500 since it was first mentioned by Asus back in June. It's sad that it's been delayed so long.
