Now that I have a 17inch machine it would be hard to go back to a 15inch machine :p

At least a lambo looks cool. Not even AW's designers can make a laptop over 3 inches thick look sleek or sexy, let alone anything close to portable. To put that into perspective, it would be 50-100% thicker than the m18x, and 3-4 lbs heavier than the m18x.

ill pass on something that big. Sounds like you could fit a crazy amount of hardware in there though. :D

For me maybe an R5 with a single mobile GPU that can do 9100-10K 3DMark 11 at stock clocks and still be able to maintain cool temps on slight oc'ing.

Indeed, unfortunately you basically go from "large desktop replacement" to "all in one with an attacked keyboard".

I wouldn't be surprised if the 780 can pull that off next year. Perhaps even the 680MX in a few months.

Do you have any news to support that now? I really want to go with an R5, but I can just wait until aug/2013...

It's based on when haswel is due to be released and how long dell takes to release a refresh based on it I believe.

Once haswell is out then Alienware would have to release a new model, be it a refresh with the same shell but new motherboard or a redesign otherwise they would fall behind.
