I had no issues with that heatsink, I tried something that worked on my y510p and I warped it, which is why I am not using it right now. Still have it and plan to use it for a mod mockup later.

p95 is a very intensive workload simulation. The most I have run it through is cinebench and multiple hours of gaming. When I convert videos using my laptop I drop my clock speed to 3.8ghz and the voltage to .975 or .950. Unfortunately i've never been able to maintain sustained overclocks under very heavy load on any heatsink using any tim.

Ah That voltage is also pretty low if I'm being honest What are you using for the overclocking? And would you advise that I lm the CPU with stock hs?

You mean on the software end? I use throttlestop. I say you try both and see which works best. The copper hs works best for me but mine is like 3 years old and maybe he makes them differently now. No clue.

I think I aam going to try and lap one of the 2 hs I have that are the all copper ones. But on the other hand. I have also ordered https://www.ebay.com/itm/Turbo-FAN-...h=item3b227d78fc:g:80UAAOSw0d1b7PtA:rk:8:pf:0 for a replacement of the CPU fan

I am going to lm the 4930mx and put the stock hs back on. Before it was usable just really scary temps under load. Hopefully the lm gives a great improvement. Also. Can you tell me what bios version you have? I am on a14+

I have the unlocked bios on my laptop. There is a thread about it on this forum. Pretty easy to do and it gives you more control over your laptop. I think its the a14 unlocked.

You are correct. It's a thread I hold dear to my heart. That's why I said I'm using the a14+ bios xD

Also. Under identical load on all cores, what degree difference between them is ok? Like with stock It can be 5 to 7 but the aftermarket there's like 10 deg difference

    Update.

I got the last peice to the liquid metal puzzle which was the conformal coating. I applied a layer of conformal coating to both of my cpus(4800mq and 4930mx) and slapped the 4930mx back in the laptop. Applied a very thin coat of liquid metal to my CPU and hs,(stock) gave that bad boy a spanking, and slapped the two back together.

Turned machine on and got scared of the two beeps I heard(I get that on boot sometimes, and I just changed the CPU sooo idk) held the power button down and booted back up Right into windows.

Started p95 and I havent even gotten over 80 with stock hs! I call this a win!

I bought not one but two of those heatsinks from same seller, thought it might be of real benefit and it wasn't. And damn they weren't even fitting. I have them sitting in the closet, wasted I PMed him no use because of some communication gap or such, I didn't feel to wreck him/her because of the work they are doing and was busy at that time.

Looks like from both @EepoSaurus and yourself @kaibsora the LM is much better than those heatsinks, Also I remember @Papusan was able to bench it quite well still ofc with the same dual heatpipe stock heatsink with Liquid metal, So I guess staying with stock is better then.

Alienware of pre 2013 and until 2014 had one of the best Heatsink fits ever. But as we know they took a nose dive with BGA and the tripod mess and a whole another world of gimpgames. And, one more thing I'd like to mention is Dell Fan profiles, they are WORST, unlike the M17x R4 you cannot control them, Even with the HWInfo Dell EC the max out is *trash* better to leave it auto for both GPU and CPU (Because the RPM read out on HWInfo with Dell EC isn't what when the fans kick in auto, I just tested it while playing COD WWII), the only fix I know is -> custom fan table option which works only with MX CPUs. Maybe you can check it out the thread and it needs DPTF which is available ONLY with the Unlocked BIOS on Ranger.

And the only time when you hear the real fan performance (even without both fans from M17x R4 GPU and M17x R3 CPU) is the BIOS flashing time (this is same for the Area51M as well now). They run to max boost this is the MAX RPM, I wish they ran like that when we have the Dell EC with the HWInfo maxed-out. Compal EC has problems from what I remember as it maxes out CPU fan, BUT it messes up a lot.

One last thing, that Turbo fan you mentioned is from the same seller, No idea how it will work, factoring all the things above. First time seeing it, please let us know what changes you notice, Thanks.

Edit : Btw can anyone confirm with the Unlocked BIOS about this DPTF feature whether it works for RPM control as well, discussed in the AW18 thread ?
