    General Questions



    1) What is your budget?
    > $1,000


    2) What size notebook would you prefer?
    > Somewhere between 13” and 16”


    3) Which country will you buying this notebook?
    > USA


    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
    > a. Like: Brands that use high quality parts throughout
    > b. Dislike: Brands that use low quality internals and have higher failure rates


    5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
    > Yes


    6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
    > Web Surfing (lots of tabs,) Video and Picture editing (GoPro & Pixel footage from vacation,) Play video on my TV (HDMI, Bluetooth, screen mirror, or whatever,) Office and Productivity Software (Word, Excel, etc)


    7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
    > Both, but mostly home use


    8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? (If so, please state which games or types of games?)
    > No


    9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
    > More is better, but I don't really know what's considered reasonable


    10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
    > Either is fine


    11) What OS do you prefer? Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Chrome OS, etc.
    > Windows


    Screen Specifics


    12) What screen resolution(s) would you prefer? (See further below for explanations.)
    > 1080p is probably fine. I don't want super high res screens like 4k because they will drain battery more quickly. Good color reproduction would be nice for when I'm messing with pics & video, but that's not my primary use.


    13) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen? (See further below for explanations.)
    > Either is fine

    14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
    > No

    15) How much hard drive space do you need?
    > At least 2TB, and maybe a 256GB SSD?


    Timing, Warranty and Longevity


    16) When are you buying this laptop
    > Next couple of months, unless there's a compelling reason to wait.


    17) How long do you expect to use this laptop?
    > 3 - 5 years


    18) How long could you afford to do without your laptop if it were to fail?
    > 2 months or so


    19) Would you be willing to pay significantly extra for on-site warranty, or would it be acceptable to you to have to ship the laptop to the vendor for repair with perhaps a week or more outage?
    > I would be fine to ship it


    20) Other notable stuff
    > I really dislike lag
    > I'd like to future proof as much as is reasonable
    > A decent trackpad with good multi-finger scrolling and gestures would be appreciated
