I really appreciate any help, so thank you all in advance :)

    General Questions

    1) What is your budget?
    > $1,200

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?
    > Somewhere between 13” and 16”

    3) Which country will you buying this notebook?
    > USA

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
    > Like: Brands that use high quality parts throughout
    > Dislike: Brands that use low quality internals and have higher failure rates

    5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
    > Yes

    6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
    > Web Surfing (lots of tabs)
    > Video and Picture editing (GoPro & Pixel footage -- eventually getting a 360° camera too)
    > Play video to my TV (HDMI, Bluetooth, screen mirror, Cast, or whatever is the most efficient way to get it there)
    > Torrents
    > Office and Productivity Software (Word, Excel, etc)

    7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
    > Both, but mostly home use

    8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? (If so, please state which games or types of games?)
    > No

    9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
    > More is better, but I don't really know what's considered reasonable

    10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
    > Either is fine

    11) What OS do you prefer? Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Chrome OS, etc.
    > Windows

    Screen Specifics

    12) What screen resolution(s) would you prefer? (See further below for explanations.)
    > I do NOT want a 4k that will drain battery more quickly, so 1080 or whatever is fine.
    > Good color reproduction would be nice for when I'm messing with pics & video, but that's not my primary use.

    13) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen? (See further below for explanations.)
    > Either is fine

    Build Quality and Design

    14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
    > No

    Notebook Components

    15) How much hard drive space do you need?
    > At least 1TB -- assuming that size is still very expensive as an SSD, maybe I should be looking for a 256GB to 500GB SSD and a 1TB to 2TB HD? Would that really destroy the battery life, or ramp up the heat a lot? Would the HD bottleneck the system?

    Timing, Warranty and Longevity

    16) When are you buying this laptop?
    > Right around now (Black Friday week.)

    17) How long do you expect to use this laptop?
    > 3 - 5 years

    18) How long could you afford to do without your laptop if it were to fail?
    > 2 months or so

    19) Would you be willing to pay significantly extra for on-site warranty, or would it be acceptable to you to have to ship the laptop to the vendor for repair with perhaps a week or more outage?
    > I would be fine to ship it

    20) Other notable stuff
    > I really dislike lag
    > I'd like to future proof as much as is reasonable
    > A decent trackpad with good multi-finger scrolling and gestures would be appreciated
    > I imagine I need to be aware of cooling, having a decent keyboard, acceptable webcam, and so on if I want to future proof a bit

    Thanks again for your help!
