I'm a bit concerned about the lcd hinges on laptops particularly on my Z60m. How long will it take before they wear out?

Thinkpads are generally very sturdy. My old school used to sell some that were over 5 years old and the hinges were still great! I would say a couple hundred thousand openings (that's not as little as you may think)

These hinges are made of steel, you really can't find stronger...

All are, some just have plastic covers. It is usually a friction material inside them that wears out though. I would say 3-5 years of use before it starts getting loose or sloppy.

After carrying my t60 14in around campus for 2 weeks I can honestly say that pretty much everything on it is very sturdy and well built. Sometimes I forget I even have it in my bag.:D

Psh, don't worry about it. Ill give it a max of 5 years with massive abuse and 10 years with here and there use.

I wasn't commenting on it further than saying they are all steel.

have you looked into the ACER's forum? one guy there had taken pics of his laptop that had cracked hinges (the plastic covering the stell hinges holding the LCD frame).
