Okay, so quite a few of us have been buzzing about Mythlogic's premium LCD options.

I'm making this thread to give them an opportunity to post photo comparisons, with which we can attempt to determine the differences in quality, between the different color gamut LCDs.

    Requesting P170HM LCDs:

    Standard 60% gamut Glossy
    90% gamut Glossy
    72% gamut MATTE

    So, the stage is yours.

******08/14/2012 UPDATE - The default screens compared in post 2 have now changed, so the comparisons in the next few posts are no longer valid. Jump to the end of the thread, if you wish to discuss the new options.

    Hi Everyone,

Ok so here is what we are looking at here today:

The AUO Optronics B156HW01 Family, all LED backlit and they all fit basically any 15.6 LED backlit computer that came with a FHD screen.
    - The V.0 Which is the default FHD Glossy screen in any Clevo 15.6 laptop of either core generation, has a 60% Color gamut
    - The V.1 Which is the default FHD Matte screen that you see in the P151HM1 (8130), also has a 60% Color gamut
    - The V.4 Which is an exclusive screen that we are putting in Clevos (Lenovo also uses them in the W510), FHD Matte screen that has a 95% color gamut.

This will be updated later when I can get outdoors and take some pictures in the sun, right now its snowing.. a lot..

First lets go to some basic and boring color squares.
    V.0
    [IMG]
    V.1
    [IMG]
    V.4
    [IMG]

So from here you can defiantly see the higher gamut screen as there is a bit more saturation and color definition.

Next Up Black and White Performance.

    V.0
    [IMG]
    V.1
    [IMG]
    V.4
    [IMG]

Next We have the full on view of the screen. This one you can very much tell the higher gamut screen from the rest of the pack.

    V.0
    [IMG]
    V.1
    [IMG]
    V.4
    [IMG]

And now some viewing angles for each. We have to the left, right, above and below for each version.

    V.0
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    V.1
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    V.4
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Finally I we made a really large image of each that includes every angle and the full front view at the same time. Please note these are 16MB+ Images so they will take some time to download.

    V.0 Combined
    V.1 Combined
    V.4 Combined

Also here is a picture of the V.4 after is has been fully color calibrated
Here are the color calibration specs for you guys who like those numbers:
    Raw White: 265 nit
    Calibrated White: 214 Nit
    Black: 0.547 Nit
Raw Contrast (Raw White / Black): 484:1
True Contrast (Calibrated White / Black): 291:1
Delta E Max (Max Was RGB Blue): 1.58
    Average Delta E: 0.57

    End of Life Information

Ok so the bad news is AUO has discontinued the B156HW01 line as of Q1 2011. We got the opportunity to place one more order directly with AUO as of today after some groveling. So we have one small shipment of B156HW01 V.4 screens coming our way in a few weeks. But the ENTIRE B156HW01 line is no more, that would be the V.0 V.1 (V.3) V.4 and V.7. It has been replaced by the B156HW02 line which as of right now only has 60% gamut screens and only in a glossy finish. They have not confirmed a matte finish screen nor have they said anything about a new high-gamut screen. So here is hoping another manufacturer steps up with some new screens.

For other questions, Please feel free to PM us. Any other questions, put them in the thread, we'll be glad to answer them.

Update 02/06/2011 - Had wrong picture for V.4 B+W Performance, fixed
Update 02/09/2011 - Calibrated V.4 Picture is up.
Update 02/23/2011 - End of Life information

    Nice stuff on the 15".

The 17" is the main event, though. Can't wait to see those.
