    7520g ICY70.

Having trouble with this laptop and have ordered a 3650 as it suffers from screen corruption, see the mxm thread.

Whilst fiddling, in one of the rare moments the graphics are ok, I noticed vista updates had been switched off and it didn't even have sp1.

I decided to try and update it.

It downloads the updates and after a looong time it eventually restarts but now locks up and requires a restart which again takes a looong time and ends in a lock up.

I tried the recovery partition and the machine did it's stuff.

I downloaded speedfan and noted the temps to be about 60c for gpu and 50c for cpu.

    I removed the crapware.

I then tried to update it and noticed the cpu, after updating, is showing about 60c (the gpu is still about 60c).

It then decided to lock up again.

A restart suggests it is in some kind of update loop.

Has anyone else noticed this rise in temperature?

Has anyone else had problems with vista updating?

There is some information on the net about problems with vista suggesting that matters can be improved if kb937287 is downloaded before updating vista.

Has anyone any experience of this?

I see that there is a bios update, 1.33, for this model - I have downloaded it but the readme doesn't say what it fixes.

    Does anyone know?

I should probably tell the owner to bin it but it seems a pity not to fix it and my interest has been aroused!!!

May have solved the sp1 problem (more googling).

Vista support without sp1 ended in April.

Reading the Microsoft article, it seems that after using the recovery feature it may be neccessary to install updates 938371 and 937287 and do a restart before installing sp1.

Has anyone else faced this situation?
