Hi. Sorry if I posted in the wrong forums, but I thought this was closest to my topic. Well, currently my laptop has (vga & hdmi) and my external monitor has (vga & dvi). I am currently connecting my laptop to my monitor with a VGA cable. My question is will my images look better than a vga to vga cable if I connected them with a HDMI(laptop) to DVI(monitor)? Since both ends will have different formats, will that cause a problem?

    Thanks!

HDMI and DVI are electronically identical with the exception of sound not being transmitted by DVI, so it is simply a matter of changing the pin arrangement, not signal conversion needed. DVI should also provide a crisper image at high resolutions.

Oh. One last question. If my monitor is not HDMI compliant only my laptop is. Does that mean even if I get the HDMI to DVI cable, my monitor won't work?

    Thank you!

IF your monitor has a DVI Port, it SHOULD work. The one thing to be aware of, however, is whether or not your Monitor is HDCP (High Def Content Protection) capable. If it isn't, the laptop may not display things like BluRay videos if you've got a BD-ROM Drive.
