One of my friends bought a new Asus R500 Notebook a couple of weeks ago. It has a AMD A8-4500M APU. He noticed that the temperature of the APU is very high, even when he is hardly doing anything else than a bit of web browsing. The temperature of the APU normally is about 85° C. He complained about that to Asus, and Asus told him to send the notebook to a repair shop. After a few days the shop returned the notebook, and wrote in a note that this temperature is normal for this notebook.

I can't believe that 85° C is normal for a APU that is almost idling. What do you think?

It's high, even for max temps.

Agreed. It's not enough to brick the system, but that's high even under load, considering the 35w TDP as well.
