Surprised I didn't see this posted...

But I can't believe it ended up being a stupid card game. Really Valve? What they hell are they working on these days in their offices? I think Valve has just become nothing more than a publisher and no longer a game developer. It's sad really.

What I don't understand is why Valve doesn't farm out development of the properties that people want (HL3) to other developers. Gearbox did a fine job with Half-Life: Opposing Force, so do it again.

These days stupid card games bring in more money than a proper single player FPS... Cheaper to develop, easier to shove in all the microtransactions. Such is life...
Besides, no one is left at Valve, who could make a game, i.e. HL3.

Oh please, anyone but those hacks at Gearbocks. IMO I think it would be even better to give the development of HL3 to the guys behind Black Mesa.

Then we can wait another 13 years for it to be released. It doesn't have to be Gearbox, but some other actual game studio.

From the looks of it Valve is putting a lot of focus into Dota 2 right now. I think they are trying to focus the emerging E-sports market and Artifact is just a way to draw new players into Dota 2 or keep existing Dota 2 players interested.

I like some of the card games, being a huge tabletop gamer.

I'd like to see Fantasy Flight do more stuff like Arkham Horror Card Game and Eldritch Horror.

Nothing wrong with card games per se, but they're a video game maker and publisher. It's a cop out, especially since they haven't released anything of significance for years.

Valve claims to be a single level company where anybody can work on anything they want. I find it hard to believe that there aren't a multitude of programmers and game designers that wouldn't want to push out a new incredible game.
