I am having this very frustrating issue with my Vaio S13 that is driving me nuts. When using the touch pad everything works perfectly fine and very smooth. However when double tapping the cursor moves erratically by 1inch (mostly down and up) that it clicks on something very different for example different buttons, different text, different windows or photos etc. That is very frustrating and I just want to punch that machine so hard but my brain tells me not to.

The windows is 100% up to date, the synaptic driver is the latest (Synaptics SMBus TouchPad Driver Version 19.0.19.17). I made a test and removed the driver. The jumping around went away but the generic driver is so bad and very inaccurate and not as responsive. Also I lose all the two-finger scrolling, sliding etc.

So I can say it is a driver issue but can't believe I am the only one. I made a video. See below, the quality is ****, I know. But take a look at the cursor and the graph which shows where I am actually tapping on the touchpad.

    Any help is very appreciated.

Does this issue occur both when you are plugged in and on battery?

What about if you use a Sony provided driver? It seems you are using the driver from the Synaptics website?

The driver used is the original that came with the laptop.

For testing I just deleted it and installed the one from synaptic website (they note that the driver might limit the features and recommend I use the one from the manufacturer). Now the device is a plain touch pad device and all the special settings are not available such as two-finger gestures etc. However the jumping stopped.

When I click on update driver it searches online and downloads the one from Microsoft which is the Synaptics SMBus TouchPad Driver Version 19.0.19.17 and the issue is back. So I am having a serious driver / hardware issue but why am I the only one?

The laptop is new and nothing is installed on it. All my files are cloud based.

I feel your pain. Windows keeps giving me 'better' drivers which cause all sorts of problems. I really need to dig out the instructions for preventing Windows Update from messing with the touchpad driver that works for me.
