Uh I don't know about that, the V6 has a bit of "coldness" to its looks, I think the yellow helps with that (being a warm color).

Besides, I've put enough time into this as it is. But I can provide the originals if anyone wants to work on them. :)

Your V6J has a matte screen? I thought "Color shine" was standard, but I might be wrong...

the V6J came with different screens depending where you live. and it is a beautiful notebook. out of all the ones ive owned the V6Va and The W2V are the best looking ever.

I have to say that I have had my V6J for exactly 1 year and I love it! I just replaced the battery...and I ordered 2 gigs of memory (arriving Wednesday)...I keep loving it more and more for it's style!

Reminds me of a larger version of my Z33...

I think the entire model line from that time period about a year to a year and half ago was probably the best looking set of notebooks I have ever seen. The V6, W3, S5, M5/Z33, all looked just wonderful.

The under-lit touch pad is pretty slick. If it had the same for the keyboards, it'd be icing on the cake. ASUS has a nice habit of keeping the aesthetics simple, though. For example, Alienware's are alright, but rather gaudy (and pricey).

No, light under the keyboard would be "gaudy" :) Even the light under the touchpad might be too much for some, I've got used to it though.

No, part of the charm of the ASUS notebooks is precisely this: style without kitsch, nothing gaudy, or as I used to say it, "all business, no sh_t".

I dunno about gaudy... perhaps if they went for maximum bling like those gamers keyboards. Something like the MBP's keyboard backlight would work though.

I don't think a backlit keyboard would be good for the V6j. Thats just too much, and it would destroy the look of this computer, I think.
