I'm looking to upgrade the screen in my Dell G5 5587 to a AUO B156HAN07.0 or 07.2 but the screen has 40pin 0.5 pin edp connector.

The Dell display cable for 4k non touch is 8vwhf but it has 0,4mm pitch (40pin)

Now the Dell display cable nytg2 for FHD touch screen has 0,5mm pitch (40pin).

    But will it work?

Anybody care to venture an opinion?

IMO matching pins and pitch should work fine. The touch cables have more lanes for bandwidth when it comes to the eDP connection. If you pull up your current panel on panelook and look at the connection naming vs the new panel they should match up closely or exactly.

    Panels match up.

But I ordered both 8vwhf and nytg2 from aliexpress and also a pitch converter adapter.

They were not that expensive and then I can see if pins match up or not.

I would do the same through Amazon on certain things but, AE is a PITA for me at this point. Covering all your bases though makes it simple to fix if one part isn't right.
