I think it is just a shame there is not thunderbolt in these models, they should have integrated them. I thought it was going to be almost standard with ivy-bridge, at least on the more expensive models like the dv6 and dv7.

So I just cancelled my dv6 order with a 7690m XT just to find out the new dv6 will have a slower GT 630m Card:mad: (that's not even Kepler!)

I hope there will be an option to select a GT 650m as well just as how both dv6/7 now can have the same cards.

otherwise I might have to re-order the laptop again -_-

hopefully in the end I hope a dv6 can look like this:
    CPU: i7-3610QM
    RAM: 8GB DDR3
    GPU: GT 650M 2GB
    Screen: 15.6" Full HD
    Backlit keyboard

Guess only time will tell :/

I'm actually in the opposite situation. I just ordered a DV6z that's already out for delivery and supposed to come in on the 20th. I have no idea if I should bother going through the hassle of returning it or not. At least the 7690m is a heck of a lot better than my Mobility 3450, which pretty much can't play anything these days. By the time these new laptops come out, it'll be too late to get a refund. Does anyone think it's worth it to return it, considering I can't even play any games atm?

Just to clarify: the new dv6 and dv7 will be using the same set of motherboards, so it is very possible that the dv6 will have a GT 650M (!) option. If it's for some reason not an option, you can always transplant a motherboard from a dv7 into a dv6. :D

I updated the first post with the new details. Thanks Drac for the links!

The leaks of the new models are just slow; have some patience. I'm 99.99% sure that the 650m will be an option for the dv6. HP's not dumb enough to take a (big) step backward in GPU performance, especially when new 28nm chips are available.

Integrating Thunderbolt is much, much more expensive than other ports such as USB 3.
