Have any of y'all tried out any express card digital tv tuners? I got one made by hp off of ebay to test out, but I have screwed up and didn't notice buried down in the add that the IR receiver for the remote wasn't included. I am not sure now if I need to just dig around and find the missing part or just get a whole new one with everything included. Trying this out on my CF-30. What have been your experiences with digital tv tuners for laptops?

I have a couple of the USB TV tuners (Pinnacle and Hauppauge), but have yet to try to put them into service with my Toughbooks.

What is the actual manufacturer of the Hewlett Packard unit you have?

It is probably made by one of the "usual suspects." ;)

Anyway: HP Mobile Remote Control for Pavilion Series

FOr testing purposes, you should be able to use a universal remote from cox, dtv, dish, or similar.
might even be able to find the code on the internet machine, so you don't have to figure it out.

    Just a thought.

I have a usb digital TV tuner about 2 years old, tested and discarded. Came with the cutest little 4-inch mag-mount aerial. Sadly the 100-foot flagpole which might have made it work more than ten feet from the transmitter was missing.

It lives in the cupboard under the kitchen sink with my K-TEL electric knife, my magic mixer and the rest of the the forgotten £19.95 gadgetry people buy people for xmas.

Can't honestly say that it didn't work... just that it would only work when connected to the aerial on the roof of my house. Not exactly the "mobile viewing pleasure experience" promised by one of those silver-tongued Chinese sellers. They're usually so reliable...

Main reason for posting this is that after 5 minutes' normal use it was too hot to touch. It may have been faulty, other devices may run cooler - but I wouldn't want anything that hot inside an express card slot.

I disassembled an usb tv tuner and mounted the pc board inside my cf 29. rewired the lid antenna to work on the tv freq's. Flush mounted an external antenna jack on the wwan cover.

I have the Hauppauge USb Digital tuner and it works awesome on my CF 19 MK IV. You cn record shows for later playback, get all of the digital channels, hook it up to cable and pull the free ones down and all. Just bought it late last year and it's really nice. Comes with a little built in antennae for closer reception, or, you can add on a Radio Shack Digital powered antennae for longer range reception.

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

That is the one I got. The ad has been revised some since them. It has everything except a usb IR sensor for the remote and another cable.

I have the remote for it.

What software are you using to watch shows? Media center?

I was trying to get one that looked a little better than the cheap o stuff, there is another one made by hp that has all the stuff for about 30 bucks I am considering getting.
