Control on Ultra with Ray Tracing:
Can anyone advise, what's the battery life like on this laptop for general work. excel, word, internet browsing, etc?
Can it match/come close to a gigabyte aero 15?
When igpu works it's about 4-5 hours of use on general tasks with non maxed brightness.
With RTX everything enabled Control has a far greater hit on FPS than even Metro, so you might try turning down RTX features and adjust down the quality too - reflections only - and see if that gets you up from 40FPS to over 60FPS.
They dulled down Control normal mode to make RTX look good - it looks dull without RTX on - so for me this and the EPIC hosting kills the game for me.
I can't install new intel gpu driver. Installer from official page says that i've got incompatible hardware.
Absolutely untested info, but my friends states that everything works fine:
You can download unlocked NVIDIA NVFlash (https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-nvflash-with-board-id-mismatch-disabled) and flash unlocked VBIOS, for eg from Area 51m (http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/area-51m-bios-vbios-collection-mirrors.829190/), he tested 190W version and it worked fine.
It gave better performance but higher temperatures. Also, it's pretty safe because in case of and ****ups you can reflash it in Optimus mode from Intel GPU.
But once again, I didn't test it.
Use DDU and try again
New BIOS for Triton 500, https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7905?b=1
Don't wanna install smth without good reason and i wonder what does it mean: Updates brightness table
What was wrong with brightness?)
Installed and not experiencing any issues. Screen looks very good before and after. I think they adjusted the levels of brightness with each brightness level adjustment on the keyboard.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES FLASH THE 90W VBIOS!!!!!
It bricked my Triton 500 2080 MaxQ. I had to use my hardware programmer to flash to back to life. Not fun. That vBIOS is 200% not compatible. If you don't have a hardware programmer you will have a brick on your hands.
