    It's here!!!

Toshiba just today made public their new dothan-based notebook, the Tecra M2-S730. The S-730 features the new dothan 725 chip rated at 1.6 mhz, and the L2 cache is doubled to 2mb as compared to the Pentium M chips.

I've been waiting for the "perfect laptop" for a year or so now, and the new S-730 fills that bill very well. Basics are: 60GB hard drive, 512mb RAM, DVD/CD combo drive, firewire, USB 2.0, 802.11 g intelpro wireless, 64bit graphics, gigabite ethernet, etc.

This week the Toshiba website is offering free shipping on all laptops, as well as a free Epson color printer (after rebate). Also on sale is their wonderful "System Guard" package, which covers the original owner from any accidental damage for the length of the warranty!! The S-730 already comes with a 3 year international factory warranty, and for $99 you can add the System Guard coverage for the full 3 years--a very, very wise investment for a fragile mobile computer!!

All in all, this machine has everything that I wanted, and after several months of indecision between the IBM Thinkpad T-41/42, the Fujitsu S series, and the Toshiba Tecra, this new model made my decision very easy, and I ordered mine today!!

Blue-tooth ready doesn't mean its included, though. It just means that its ready to accept a device to enable the bluetooth. I'm really excited about this model, and plan on purchasing it soon.

Could you elaborate a little more on your claim that "integrated video kills the deal?"

For who? A hardcore gamer? Word processor user? Email-addicts? Photshop users???

What's the big issue with integrated video?

I think you're mixing it up with the new Tecra A2 series. All of the M2's have thier own video card (it is NOT integrated). The M2-S730, I believe, has a 64MB nVidia graphics card.

oh i appologize in that case

for hte other poster integrated video is really slow for things other than games too... well it wastes your ram so now there goes like a quarter of your ram that's being written for video and the ram is also being used as ram and it only goes so fast too... to me it'd be a big deal.
