Currently I have a Samsung SATA SSD, which if I connect directly to the motherboard, I can use Samsung Magician to upgrade its firmware and view all the stats. However, with "standard" SATA to USB 3.0 enclosures, it's not the same, and Samsung Magician does not recognize properly. It works perfectly fine and such but it's not the same level of interoperability. Apparently using a Thunderbolt adapter it will make the disk appear as internal.

Any ideas or recommendations? Anybody tried this before?

I am going to be running 2 NVME via a dual enclosure through my TB port. I am using them for resolve editing. I will see how well it performs and report back. I would think any enclosure would be fine. You will have no problems with what you want to do imo.
