    Dear Experts

I want to change SSD for ThinkPad X1 carbon to a bigger size , I need to disable power for the internal battery first

    I tried to follow (pressing F1) :

    https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/au/en/solutions/pd025206

    F1 didn't work for me, I pressed Enter then F1 then Ctrl + S

But I can't get to the Config option ,,,,I am not sure why that is happening ?

Please see the snapshot what i am getting

I didn't disable the internal battery and did a repaste and ssd swap, no damage.

You can physically disconnect the internal battery inside the machine if you so desire.

You can find the HMM instructions here: https://thinkpads.com/support/hmm/hmm_pdf/x1carbon_2_hmm_en_sp40a26110_01.pdf

Honestly I wouldn't even bother with disconnecting the battery. Just shut it down, open the panel, swap the ssd, then close the panel.

Disconnecting the battery isn't entirely necessary for something like this, but doing a repaste, I wouldn't take the risk

I never disconnected battery before swapping ssd. Shouldn’t matter in my opinion.
