Hi guys, thanks for reading my post! I’m looking for a new laptop since my Spectre x360 2-1 (2015) got stolen out of my car a few months ago. I’m using a MacBookPro 13 inch (2017) model for the last few months, i lend it from my dad. However, I’m looking for a new 15-inch laptop for daily use. Can you guys help me out? Thanks in advance!

    General Questions

    1) What is your budget?

    1500-2000 euro’s (1600 – 2200 dollars)

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?

    a. Ultraportable; 10" - 12" screen
    c. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
    d. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
    e. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen

    3) Which country will you buying this notebook?

    The Netherlands

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

    a. Like: i like brands with clean design such as Apple / Microsoft
    b. Dislike: I dislike the Thinkpad designs from Lenovo, however that’s the only thing I dislike about those laptops. I do not like laptops with blue color (HP Dragonfly, Acer Zenbook)

    5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
    No

    6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
    70% productivity

    20% Netflix and chill ;)

10% economic model processing/light photo and video editing

    7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?

I need to take my notebook everywhere i go, so daily carry. I already have a setup at my desk for when I’m home.

    8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? (If so, please state which games or types of games?)

    No

    9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
    At least 6,7 hours

    10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?

    Yes

    11) What OS do you prefer? Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Chrome OS, etc.

    Windows or Mac OS

    Screen Specifics

    12) What screen resolution(s) would you prefer? (See further below for explanations.)

    Minimum HD, preferably higher

    13) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen? (See further below for explanations.)
Does not really matter, as long as it is not super glossy. I like the Macbook Pro 13 inch (2017) screen.

    Build Quality and Design

    14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
Yes, looks and stylishness is very important to me (Im sorry guys). I really like clean designs such as Macbook’s, I also like the Surface Laptop 3 clean design. The new XPS13 design is also very nice (Should i wait for the XPS 15 2020 ?)

    Notebook Components

    15) How much hard drive space do you need?
    256-512 GB

    Timing, Warranty and Longevity

    16) When are you buying this laptop?
In a few weeks, I’m prepared to wait at most 3 months for new releases.

    17) How long do you expect to use this laptop?
    2-4 years

    18) How long could you afford to do without your laptop if it were to fail?
I can get a backup laptop immediately if needed.

    19) Would you be willing to pay significantly extra for on-site warranty, or would it be acceptable to you to have to ship the laptop to the vendor for repair with perhaps a week or more outage?
    Both is fine.

Summary: I prefer a thin and light laptop (or 2-1). With a good quality screen, small bezels, clean design, no flex in the build.

    Looking forward to your recommendations!
