I used Shin Etsu before and it was by far the best non conductive thermal paste I ever used regarding longevity & viscosity. Recently I can't seem to find it a lot in Germany.

Trying to help a friend with ICD7, what is the best method to apply this to CPU die? I do not think the spreading method like gelid extreme works here, this thing is SUPER THICK.

If it is a lidless laptop CPU, apply a line the length of the die. If it is a desktop CPU you can apply a big X pattern from corner to corner.

You're welcome. On the GPU, you can do an X or two parallel lines evenly spaced apart across the width of the GPU core. Either method works fine.

Funny, the tech who came to do my heatsink replacement (2nd one) brought Shin Etsu with him. I just bought Gelid GC-Extreme and just went with that. GC-Extreme works really well and is less viscous than most pastes.

Just some background. Old paste was gc extreme. Heard about icd scratching the die but if it is cosmetic and my buddy does not need to repaste, why not. It solved core diff issues too so that was surprising.
