Comparing a niche processor to a value-oriented alternative never made much sense. Also, Intel's fabrication node is smaller/denser. The $130 i3-7350k does actually trade blows with the Ryzen 5 1600 more often than you might think, and, just as the rest of the Kaby Lake family, it overclocks in the region of 4.7 - 5.1 GHz, with its base 60W TDP. Now that they've re-hashed the CPU in a X299, 112W TDP variant, who knows how high the ceiling is? That's not to say I'd even remotely consider making an expensive i3-7360X build, but I'm sure it has its use as a lowly-threaded overclocking champ.

You don't understand - the image was a joke. I don't know a word about either, just seemed funny.

My directive is to use Intel instead of AMD simply because the support is wider and because I am using apps that need intel support, but I would consider AMD if I made a build just for gaming, probably.

This being said, I think it is pretty silly to have an extreme edition of i3 or of i5, I mean, who makes a build based on it, instead of an extreme i7, and why?

Yeah, I know the image was meant to be funny, and I see the "why?!?!" reaction to the i3, but I still couldn't keep myself from pointing out how poor the comparison is (critical of the image, not you), or how the specs on paper don't translate to the Ryzen 5 1600 being better in every single regard. Goes to show how hopeless I am, since those factors killed the joke to me. :vboops:

The one thing I can appreciate about the image is that it reflects the traction AMD has gained among enthusiasts with Ryzen. Witnessing Intel's monopoly fading feels right.

Yes, I completely agree that Intel has convoluted their own line-up by including i3s and i5s in the X-series. An i3 case sticker would be seen as humorous if slapped on a build with an Asus VI Extreme or Apex, yet a professional overclocker will probably use one of those exact motherboards to set a crazy ~9 GHz record with the i3-7360X. High-end and i3 don't go hand-in-hand; the combination can make for an overclocking headline, however.

I was just dealing with this. I get about 15MB/s peak, wanted to limit Steam to 12 so it wouldn't cannibalize the line, but had to limit it to 10 because that's all I got.
