There is nothing wrong with the model itself. The market and media prefer slimmer/thinner machines and no longer pay much attention to the big hulking models. Media will cover the laptop, but won't say much at all, and only some sites.

Plus, there are 9th gen CPUs coming out, and I am not even sure if they will refresh the GT75 series or not. Maybe they will refresh it to release it with the 8 core CPUs, who knows.

My thought is that the market shifted to GE and GS series, so GT will remain a niche ultra high performance product.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it, it's just not timed well.

There's not a lot of hype for the 20 series in mobile, the GTX1080 is still a beast at 1080p, and the RTX 2080 can't do 60fps/4k. So if you already have a notebook with a 8950HK and GTX 1080, it's not worth dumping $4k on an upgrade.

Stocks were also low I think because of move to the 9th Gen CPUs. I saw that the 9980HK model is now available.

If you need a new notebook now, and are looking for a thicker chassis rather then the thinner ones that are more popular right now, it's a great machine.

Just match the clock speed vs. package power from last gen:D

Gents i need an helping hand of yours.
Can one of you let me know which 1920x1080 144Hz display MSI use in the new GT75 8SG?
I had one here for an hands on review from msi but i forget to check what display it is.
    is it the AUO B173HAN03.0?
I liked that display and want to try if it will run with my gt75vr instead of the 4k display.

    A few reasons
    1. As other mentioned, everyone seems to be crazy about the thing models, which I shake my head when I look at. They will just overheat and throttle.
    2. It was pretty niche model to begin with.
    3. Since it is the most high end model you would expect it to come with 8 core and hopefully SLI 2080 RTX cards. This would be a computer I would be interested in for post production. Our GT75 is great, but well more GPUs means more power.

    Best,
    Andreas

I had an GE75 here for test reason from MSI and there was no throttling at all during gaming on Ultra Settings of Different games. so in that case i don't share your point of view for the 8th gen devices.
What will about with 9th gen devices i don't know but we will see.
And everyone who buy an notebook from any company (asus, acer, msi, clevo etc.) should know what can happen. for me it was clear over the last years (10 or so) that it is needed to remove the paste and renew it with something like mx-4, grizzly, ic diamond and so on.

SLI/NVLink is an technology which is an dead technology. when was the last update for SLI games list from Nvidia?
I don't remember it for the last 2 years. optimization from the Game developer is nearby 0 no it is 0 if you get an optimization for an game you have a lot of issues to get it stable for playing games. i had only one game which was a dream to play with two gtx 1070 from Aorus and that was ashes of the singularity. The only game i play so far which has even no issues with DX12 in use.
    i read this Benchmark from gamernexus.net: https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3366-nvlink-benchmark-rtx-2080-ti-pcie-bandwidth-x16-vs-x8
Only Sniper Elite 4 and Ashes of the Singularity uses the full power of SLI/NVlink and in one or two points (maybe more) an SLI of 1080Ti was better then NVLink with RTX 2080 or 2080 Ti. was a while ago i read this benchmark.

Instead of things like SLI/NVlink or a 4th and 5th M.2 Port which is reserved for Intel SSDs only (was confirmed by MSI Germany) they had to use the free space for an third Fan solution which could grant a better cooling and maybe less noise and a better oc for guys like us. That would be an absolutly niche device i would by with joy.
The only thing which is sure atm for me is that i go back to desktop this year after nearby 5 years i'm done with niche devices and if i want a notebook i will buy one of this thin beauties and will enjoy it when i try to optimize it with all the things i learned here.

Nvidia released an official SLI profile for Anthem with geforce driver 430.39. It works great. SLI isn't dead, you just have to really push nvidia/devs to keep supporting it.

How Mans weeks After release? At the beginning it was deactivated and somewhere i read about an lock of sli which was removed end of march. So that is somerhing what i call issue with sli. If it should work out of the box devs or nvidia don‘t need to do things like that.

But wrong Thread to discuss things like that. Sorry for Thread jacking
